Meet our team
Our team of experts come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a wealth of skill and experience to every project.

Matt
FOUNDER AND OWNER
Matt began his craftsman career carving wooden figures with a scroll saw when he was just eight years old. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he began renovating homes in the Nashville area. In 2006, he returned to his hometown of Cincinnati, enrolled in the MBA program at Miami University, and started renovating homes in the area. He now leads the team with the skills and experience he’s gained over many years of renovating properties.

Joe
PROPERTY MANAGER
Joe is the property manager and part team-lead for Renaissance. He previously helped manage a restaurant in Pittsburgh before moving to Cincinnati and joining the Renaissance team. He previously worked with Joshua on his landscape business. He loves building relationships with people, and prefers physical labor over the corporate world. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the city, going to the gym, and cheering on his Pittsburgh sports teams.

Joshua
PROJECT MANAGER
Joshua is a part owner of Renaissance Home Renovations. Previously, he owned a successful hardscape business before partnering with Matt Tedford. Joshua loves taking a space that is outdated or unusable and creating a beautiful and functional area for homeowners and their families. In his free time, Joshua enjoys hiking with his wife, watching football, and playing golf.

Steve
PROJECT LEAD & FINISH CARPENTER
Steve joined the Renaissance team in 2021 after a career change. Steve spent the last 20 years as an entrepreneur, and the last 10 years as a Chick-fil-A franchise owner. As a Project Lead, he is passionate about helping our team maximize our efforts to complete projects with excellence. When he’s away from the job, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing drums on the worship team at his church, and beating people in pickleball.

OUR STORY
Renaissance Home Renovations is born out of a passion for woodworking and craftsmanship that I’ve had since I was a child. For my 8th birthday I was given a scroll saw – something that I had asked for after watching older men make crafts at church. I would spend endless nights cutting wooden Bible figures for Sunday school vignettes, sell small crafts to Boy Scout groups and would have a “wood sale” on the end of my driveway in White Oak where I would sell small wooden crafts. With the small amounts of money that I would make, I’d invest in new tools and begin to produce a better product, learning early many business skills that have stayed with me today. By the time I was 12, my products were being used in five countries around the world.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee, my first job was in retail management of a Sherwin-Williams store in Nashville. Besides the knowledge gained about painting products and real-life management experience, much of my acumen in the renovation business came from delivering paint to job sites. I spent many lunch breaks in the tail gate of pickup trucks talking with tradesmen about their craft and having them show me the tricks of the trade inside the homes. I purchased my first home in Nashville a year later and renovated that house and sold it before returning to Cincinnati in 2006. After completing the MBA program at Miami University, I slowly started to purchase rental properties in the Norwood area. The old homes in Cincinnati were much different than new builds in Nashville, but I was able to utilize many of the skills I learned.

I started out doing all the renovation work myself, acquiring new skills and learning which trades should be left to the true professionals. I slowly started hiring additional hands and adding rental properties. Through the past 22 years, I’ve renovated more than 200 apartment units and homes. Renaissance Home Renovations was born out of the hard work put in through many years of residential renovation experience, now focusing on client-based projects like kitchens, bathrooms, basements and outdoor living spaces. We would be honored to gain your trust on your home project!"
